I was just lazing around in ma diggz watching Jamhuri Day celebrations on TV when award winning songstress, Wahu came to the the stage to perform her hit single “Sweet Love”. So I thought coz she was performing to Obako and the PM, things will be different kidogo but wapi. To my disappointment, she was lip-synching.
It didn’t end there, Jua Cali, Mejja, Nazizi, Amani, Mr. Lenny & Co came to perform another ka-song about peace but again, they were lip-synching!!! During the week in a local TV talk show, Amani chose to lip-sync instead of getting a live band to do her a back up . And imagine the band was just sitting on stage idle .
Am begining to wonder is this the norm with our local artists?! Do they really have the raw talent that we perceive them to have coz lip synching often indicates a lack of talent and that they can’t add the special touch to live performances that many great artists do.

Songstress Amani aka Cecilia Wairimu surely caused a stir at the MTV Music Video Premiere Party of musician Wahu’s video ‘Little Things We Do’ last month. I know many guys wetted their pants and wanted a piece of her..lol. Who would not?? But hold your horses, if you had that thought in mind or you are Amani secret admirer…you will be disappointed in my next statement. In an interview with Linah of KTN Str-8 Up show, Amani made it clear :
| “I am not single and not ready for marriage, I have an issue with commitment, I can’t just handle engagement with the kind of life I lead. I am better off this way,” |

I wonder why?? Maybe she is in an open relationship or something but if this is the way forward for all chiqas, I will die as one lonely fella…lol.
